Sustainability

The need for sustainability applies to everything we do. We need to sustain:

  • Public support for our work

  • Funding for that work

  • The results of that work

This requires paying attention to the long-term, additional planning, and using some principles that will help guide our decisions.

Being conservative in our assumptions and careful in our planning, and ensuring that there are neither windfalls nor budget shortfalls built into our programs and projects, are all part of developing a sustainable approach. For instance, we designed an equity-sharing approach to homeownership as part of a workforce housing program that ensures affordability can be maintained over time or that the value that was originally invested can be recaptured — no windfalls and no budget shortfalls.

We will discuss and help you apply these and other principles to your planning, projects and programs.
